The painting captures three onyxes in mid-gallop, their sleek black and grey forms moving with effortless grace across an open landscape. Their powerful legs stretch forward. Above them, a flock of birds takes flight, their wings spread wide as they soar in synchronized arcs, echoing the motion of the animals below.

The palette is a harmonious blend of soft blues, muted oak tones, and gentle greys, lending a dreamlike quality to the scene. The sky is a wash of pale cerulean, streaked with wisps of cloud that dissolve into the horizon. Earthy oak hues ground the composition, blending into the dust kicked up by the onyxes’ hooves.
